Dr Seuss wrote some of the most beloved children’s books of all time, and The Cat in the Hat remains a firm favourite. For a quirky and whimsical baby shower, be inspired by Dr Seuss and that infamous cat. This fun baby shower is very eye-catching and full of great ideas.

  • Incorporate elements from the book into every part of the shower from the invitation to the décor, such as this welcome sign, and the food. There are many great ideas for invitation wording on the Internet; the key is a clever rhyme.
  • The Cat in the Hat has a colour palette limited to red and blue, which makes party décor a cinch. Huge bunches of red, white and blue balloons have a high visual impact. You can even incorporate elements from the Americana baby shower theme. We love the clever touches of the fish cutouts above the fishbowls, and the pile of Dr Seuss books atop a little red chair.
  • Keep the red and blue look for the food too, something that is surprisingly easy to do. Make some homemade lemonade tinted with blue food colouring for Dr Seuss Blue Juice, like this baby making potion. Order baked goods such as macaroons or cupcakes in the coordinating colours. Look out for store-bought items too — Kit Kats and Fizz Pops are perfect for a fun touch of whimsy.

As Dr Seuss would have said, “The Cat in the Hat is lots of fun, join us to welcome a new little one”!
